Moving on from Cincinnati, Dr. Downs earned his Doctor of Chiropractic through the Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri. It was in St. Louis that Dr. Downs found his true passion, honing techniques that have enabled him to assist his patients in achieving optimal health and well being.
Since earning his doctorate, Dr. Downs has run two successful health practices in his hometown of Canton, Ohio and here in The Valley of the Sun. For the past six years, he has operated his own practice in Scottsdale, Arizona. While Dr. Downs' main focus is treating his patients, he does take very good care of himself outside of the office. He trains at the gym regularly, still plays competitive baseball, and competes in physique shows annually.
Russell C. Teames, D. C.
Dr. Teames is the newest member of the MVHC family. He received his degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College West near San Francisco, CA in 2012. In 2013 he relocated to his hometown of Chandler, AZ., to begin practicing as a Board Eligible Chiropractic Neurologist at Mountain Vista Health Center. In fact, he was inspired by Dr. Downs in 2008 as a patient, to pursue his education and career in chiropractic, and in a full-circle series of events, has landed back in the office as an Associate of Dr. Downs.
Dr. Teames has spent hundreds of hours studying and teaching Chiropractic Neurology and brain health, and is awaiting examination results in late 2013 to become a Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist. He will be attending a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Fellowship Course on the diagnosis and treatment of Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injuries starting in March 2013 and continuing until March 2014.
Dr. Teames has an incredible passion for helping others, and strives to find the root cause of each person's health issues. He knows all too well that many times patients are not even heard, and are looked at as individual systems that are malfunctioning, when in fact, the body works as a whole, and the whole body health must be addressed. This is the approach Dr. Teames takes when sitting down with a patient to determine what course of care will be most beneficial to them.
Dr. Teames was a high school athlete, playing baseball and golf and has continued his passion for sports playing in men's softball leagues around the valley, as well as competing in Long Drive golf events and regular golf events throughout Arizona.
Linda was given the opportunity to do charitable work overseas, and spent a year and a half in a remote rural region in Nepal. Working in a small hospital there, she oversaw the inpatient unit, worked as the OB coordinator, performing 50 deliveries independently, and assisted in surgeries. This challenging opportunity prompted her to continue schooling upon returning to the States.
She relocated to Scottsdale, AZ after meeting and marrying her husband, and then began her training at Arizona State University. While working at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in the ICU, she obtained an MSN as an adult nurse practitioner from ASU and was able to complete some of her clinical work through the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. She is now board certified by the ANCC.
As a nurse practitioner, Linda has spent the majority of her years in practice in Pain Management. It has been a fulfilling and challenging role. She especially enjoys seeing her patient's quality of life improve, as their pain is alleviated. Joining the staff at Mountain Vista Health Center in December 2011, Linda's goal is to utilize her pain relief treatments to complement other services provided at Mountain Vista Health Center.
